Results of the 2008 Club Survey

Here are the results of the 2008 Trillium Club Survey!
Seventy-five members responded out of 141 who were sent the survey - or 53%, a very good response rate. Based on that, answers are accurate to at least +/- 11% 19 times out of 20.
1. 43% regularly attend monthly meetings.
2. Sundays are preferred for touring by 88%. Saturdays are almost as popular at 86%. Friday evenings are preferred by 77%, and weekend overnight trips by 73%. The average maximum distance that members prefer to travel in one day is 250 km.
3. About 25% of members would consider hosting a tour, but 75% would be willing to assist.
4. Driver's education events are desired by 91% of members, while slalom events are desired by 42%..
5. In terms of other possible events, track days were mentioned most often (7 times). Other events mentioned more than once were: show & shines, tech days and rally/autocross.
6. Canadian trips are preferred to US trips (85% to 60%), although both are popular.
7. 58% are interested in off-season events such as Sunday brunches.
8. With respect to establishing separate chapters, 65% said yes, 22% said no, and 13% were unsure. 57% did suggest that some criteria be attached to establishing new chapters - the most frequently mentioned criteria were a) a minimum number of members required, b) organizational structure criteria, c) specific regional suggestions and d) a minimum distance required from the central club.
9. In terms of recommendations for improvement, the most common suggestion was to a) vary meeting locations, followed by b) changing the tours, c) establishing chapters, d) suggestions for the club newsletter Miata Miles, e) website improvements, and f) more emphasis on the cars.
10. In terms of overall club satisfaction, the overall membership satisfaction rating was 7.3/10 (where 1= very dissatisfied and 10= very satisfied).
11. In terms of where members had first heard of the Club, 40% cited the website, 29% said word-of-mouth, 12% indicated their local Mazda dealer, and 19% mentioned some other method.
12. In terms of the model year of member's cars, the most common model years reported were 1990, followed by 2006 and 1999. Red is the most common colour reported, followed by blue and silver.
