The weekend of Sept 21-22-23 was Trillium Miata's first official tour of Prince Edward County. Twenty-two cars met at the Belleville Ramada Inn on Friday night and everyone picked up their map and information packages for the next two days. Two more joined the group on Saturday morning in time for our start. One had learned of our tour from the website and one had learned from a tow truck driver a few days before we arrived! This was the first Club driving event for several people so it was a good introduction to next summer's touring season.
After a few early raindrops on Saturday morning, the weather co-operated nicely for the rest of the weekend. The morning was spent touring the northern part of the County, stopping for a very pleasant lunch on the patio at the Sandbanks Bar and Grill in Wellington, overlooking West Lake.
The afternoon was spent exploring the roads around the perimeter of the southern part of the county with stops at the Black River Cheese Factory, the Marine Museum and Lake on the Mountain. Cash and calories were saved by everyone when we discovered our planned ice cream stop had closed for the season early!
Sunday was left unstructured in order to allow everyone to explore in greater depth the attractions we had passed by on Saturday. The annual Studio and Gallery Tour was taking place this weekend and proved a popular way to spend the day. Other popular activities were exploring the County's wineries, checking out the Canadian Air Force Museum at CFB Trenton and continuing to drive the back roads of Prince Edward as well as Northumberland Counties.
Caren and I located another ice cream stop along the route for next time. Hope to see you there next year!
