On almost any weekend, you'll find our members discovering some of the best touring roads in Ontario, Quebec and the northern U.S.A. We have many activities to offer any Miata owner, from touring, driving clinics to performance & accessory modifications, tech & detailing clinics, as well as brunches, BBQs and regular ice cream runs. Come and JOIN US!
Membership in the Trillium Miata Club provides you with the opportunity to learn more about your car and its care. This learning experience is based on shared experiences and friendship with other Miata owners. We love to talk about our cars almost as much as we love to drive them. Our monthly meetings are a great place to discuss service, performance or socialize. Mostly, our meetings are about Miata-tude... that's what owning a Miata is all about.
Please browse through our website and feel free to provide us with your comments or questions.
We'd like to thank Mazda Canada for their ongoing support of the Trillium Miata Club. A big thanks also to all of the Club volunteers. It is their effort and membership dues that make everything we do possible.
Please note that guests are welcome at any of our meetings, day tours and activities, but overnight tours are open only to members. So please come out and experience Trillium during one of our day activities and then become a member of our great club.

The 10th Gathering of the Greens was hosted by the Ridge Runners Miata Club in the Asheville, North Carolina area.
You might ask what the “GOG” is… It’s an exclusive group within an exclusive group J. In 1993, it was decided that the 1991 British Racing Green special edition Miata was worth celebrating. So a meeting of ’91 BRGers was organized. That event was apparently so much fun that one club or another has organized a GOG every 2 years since that memorable first event.
Hence the 10th GOG was held in 2011. And I was ashamed to admit that as an original BRGer, I had never attended one of these exclusive events.
But this one was going to be different. Five Canadian BRGers drove to the Asheville, North Carolina Mountain Lodge. In all, there were 38 BRGers from across North America. Including one from Texas – he had the longest drive and the highest mileage on his beauty. And of course as holder of the TMC banner, I made sure it was posted in the banquet room – there are pictures of the Canadians to prove it.
Thursday evening was a meet and greet – car wash opened at 3pm and snacks and drinks were provided by the hotel. It was great fun getting to know the other BRGers (some of whom I had met, some of whom were new friends).
Friday morning began bright and early – with 38 shiny BRGs ready to go. We departed from the hotel in one group, complete with local police blocking intersections so the entire group could drive to Skyland Auto (the local Mazda dealer – main supporter of the Ridge Runner Miata Club). The group arrived at the Mazda dealer for a group photo. Lo and behold, the local television station even joined us for some interviews.
And to ensure the Canadian cars (we managed to drive in one group) were recognizable, I attached a Canadian flag to my radio antenna. Turns out I wouldn’t recommend anyone drive with a flag attached to their radio antenna, but it made it easy to find our cars in the group photos.
The tour (all 38 BRGers) continued to The Farmer’s Daughter restaurant - an Amish food stand, store and restaurant. Lunch was wonderful – far too much food but far too delicious to refuse. More twisties (quite amazing roads to be truthful) and another group photo op at the NC Visitor’s Centre.
By the time we returned to the hotel, you couldn’t wipe the grins off anyone’s faces. We had just been part of a wonderful day, which was very well organized.
Just one example of the southern hospitality which we Canadian enjoyed: Meg Muirehead’s power window decided to stop working in the down position. As soon as she mentioned the problem to one of the local BRGers, about 8 men surrounded her car and began diagnosing the problem. When they couldn’t come up with an easy fix, they proceeded to dismantle the door cover, remove the window, tie-wrap it into the up position and re-assemble the door cover. When something like this happens to anyone’s baby, the people you want working on the problem are other Miata owners – no one is going to be gentler or more careful with your Miata. Meg certainly experienced that care.
Southern hospitality abounded in the hotel staff. By the time our weekend was over, some of the staff had become good friends – they even learned some of our names just to make us feel more at home.
Saturday was a day of optional tours. The local BRGers had planned 5 tours. GOG attendees picked their tours and were off for the day. I chose the Mountain Medley just because I didn’t want to miss any of the local roads. Very early in our tour there was a detour. The lead car mentioned some disappointment because we were going to miss their planned road. Turned out that the detour road was just as much fun and the locals are going to include that road in future tours.
As most people know, I’m generally the sweep for our tours. In North Carolina, that’s call the “tail gunner”. So, tail gunner I was for Saturday.
The banquet on Saturday evening began with a performance by the Whitewater Bluegrass band – in the hotel lobby. It was great fun! And then on to good food, meeting even more new friends and some speeches by the organizers.
Sunday morning was departure day. After receiving our group photos and other goodies, the five Canadians left the hotel.
Saturday evening the locals had convinced us that us we had time for at least one more local road – and their sales job on this road was so good that as a group we decided that we could fit in that one last run. It meant that we would have a lot of highway driving in order to get home at a reasonable time on Monday, but we all agreed it would be worth the run. And boy was it ever!! We drove the Cherahola Parkway – quite close to Deals Gap and The Tail of the Dragon, but much less congested and absolutely a gorgeous parkway. Despite some fog, we were able to stop for a couple of photos ops. Mostly we stood looking at the view with our mouths open. At least one or two of us mentioned we want to move to North Carolina – the roads are just too good to miss.
Turns out GOG 12 (in 2013) will be hosted by the Tulsa Oklahoma Miata Club. Plans are already underway for the Canadian BRGers to attend. J Personally, I can’t wait!!
Liz Burns – proud 1991 British Racing Green owner and new member of the GOG club.
